Chan Chan
To be honest I’ve never heard of the Chimor Empire before and I’m probably not alone. They ruled the coastal river valleys of northern Peru from 900 until 1470 when the Inca Empire conquered them in a long and bloody war. If you wanna know more of the history I recommend the Wikipedia site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chan_Chan It seems pretty accurate.

Walking among these majestic walls was an incredible feeling. These people built this empire entirely separated from european and asian cultures. Different gods, different traditions, different levels of development. Wish I could see how they lived here 1000 years ago.
How to visit
When I arrived in Trujillo I paid for a daily trip that included Chan Chan, La Huaca de la Luna (Temple of the Moon)and Huanchaco. If I could next time I would just organise by myself because 50 Sol (~12 EUR) +27 Sol for entrance fees, felt a bit overpriced, and all of these locations can be reached easily with public transport within half an hour from Trujillo.
