I went to Schwarzbach an der Saale so you don't have to

I went to Schwarzenbach an der Saale so you don’t have to. I wasn’t planning too long for this day. I just picked a green spot on the map near Hof, which had good connection to Public Transport. It would have been Rehau, but I ended up in Schwarzenbach an der Saale because that train arrived earlier.

Schwarzenbach an der Saale is a small town, 15 minutes away from Hof. It has everything that you can expect from a Bayerish town. Fachwerkhaus, Church, German Beer, and a little river going through the centre, however my favourite was an old Factory building. It wasn’t anything special, but the fact that an industrial building, which is probably more than a hundred years old, survived in a city centre on the coast of the river is something extraordinary.

I finished my sightseeing in less than 30 minutes and headed to the Forest. Unfortunately it wasn’t that close at all. I follow a path on strava, but for my bad luck it was more like a path for bikers and in reality it was a normal road without any shadow. I almost died on the first 3 km, but then I arrived at a lake which is a famous sports hub for Surfers, Kayakers and SUP paddlers.

The way from here was more pleasant. It was finally an actual forest, but I wasn’t stunned by it. Roads for cars were crossing regularly and there were areas every 2-3 hundred metres where trees were cut. So this hike wasn’t that bad, but don’t follow my way. At least not by foot. Maybe the same trail could be a nice one with a bike.
