Hiking in the Valley of the Yala River

San Salvador de Jujuy is 1300 m high above sea level, and it is surrounded by 3-4 thousand metres high mountains. Between these mountains is the Valley of the Yala river. It is very easy to reach from the city. It is a 40 minutes bus ride with public transportation. The bus number 35 takes you here for 60 Pesos (0,20 €). The valley is a perfect place for hiking, however most locals only come here to spend time on the river coast and have barbecues.

My original plan was just to visit the lagunas, but I had more time so I decided to walk through the mountains to the neighbouring valley.
