Singapore

First time in Singapore, first time in Asia. First time to visit a city where there is a forest of 200+ metre tall buildings.

Singapore is unique in many ways but somehow the culture shock didn’t want to hit me and it is probably because this country is organised so well that you can easily forget that you are 10 000 km away from Europe. Good Public transport, easy communication, you can have any type of food, anywhere from the world in restaurants or in shops as well.

Chinese, Malay, Indian and western people live here together, giving the example for the whole world.

There is only one thing which is hard to get used to and that is the weather. 30 degrees with 90% humidity all the time. A 10 minutes walk equals a lot of sweating.

I came here to work. I had to visit the construction site every day. Sometimes I had to attend meetings at 8 or 9 pm, because of the time difference, but even with this tight schedule I still had some time to discover Singapore.

I stayed in Chinatown so I quickly managed to discover that part of the city:

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Chinatown

And then I had to attend a safety course which was close to two national parks so I visited them as well and “climbed” the highest point of Singapore.

On my only free weekend I visited a reservoir, a beach club, a beautiful park with an amazing bridge and the place which recently became maybe the most famous landmark of the country. MBS and the artificial trees.
