Kossuth Cave, Hungary

Have you ever dreamed about crawling and climbing in dark and narrow places? Me neither, but one of my friends do. She was asking me several times already if I would like to join a trip ti a cave, and I finally said yes. I have no regrets.

It feels very unusual for me to write about Hungarian places, when actually it would make more sense than anything else, especially when I do it in English, I could share some really useful information about travel in Hungary. However this trip is only possible with a guided tour, so I can not help you with useful tricks about how to get inside the Cave, because you need autorisation and a guide to do so.

Kossuth Cave

In the Gömör-Tarna Karst is one of Europe's most exciting cave system located. It is also on the UNESCO world heritage list. Many of the Caves are very easy to visit. You can just walk through them, thanks to the built walk passages. The Kossuth Cave is very different from that, and for that exact reason: it is so much more fun. We had to go through narrow places, there is a lot of water and mud, but most importantly there are amazing natural forms which were built by the water under millions of years. We also jumped in to the water at the and. I loved the whole experience. You don’t have to be well trained to finish this tour, but you have to concentrate and you need a coving overal and a hat which will be provided by the organisers.
