Cachiyacu Waterfall
Originally I was planning to go to The Ahuashillo Waterfall but I arrived there so quickly that I decided to continue my way to the next one.
This one seemed challenging and at first I wasn’t sure that it was actually doable. It wasn’t more than 5 km away. But you can never know how difficult the hike will be and I followed a narrow path which wasn’t shown on any map. I just hoped that eventually I will get somewhere. I crossed Cacao fields, some banana fields and some forests and after about 2 km the path ended in a gate of a farm. I was hesitating to enter, but eventually I did. There were three men working on something, three dogs barking at me like hell and some horses in the background. The owner was really nice and walked me through his field and showed me the way to the main road.

Once I got to the main road I wasn’t just discovering anymore I decided that I’ll reach the Waterfall. I walked really fast hoping that the road was not too difficult. It turned out that this part of the river is the source of the water supply of the city and probably for that reason it was well maintained and easy to reach the waterfall.
Still haven’t met any tourists all day and the weird part was that I knew where the waterfall was, but it wasn’t visible. Wherever I went. The view was covered by rocks or trees. Finally I found a small path going down to the riverbed but it was still pretty hard to actually get a little glimpse of the waterfall. The trick was to swim through a narrow gorge where the water was deep and only after that I could actually reach the waterfall.
