In highschool I liked math, physics and I was always a creative person. These are the main reasons why I chose to study civil engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. I always wished to be part of building a better, liveable and sustainable environment. Of course as a freshly graduated civil engineer my word counts little, but this is exactly my motivation. Getting more experience and knowledge so I can have a bigger impact in the future.

Student Jobs I had plenty of student jobs during my studies. I filled out questionnaires, I was putting stickers on eyeglasses, I was folding towels in a laundry, and I was building a music festival. I loved these jobs because of my colleagues and I believe that every place was offering new useful experiences.

Wati Cooling System GmbH I got my first real job at Wati when I was still a student. The company was building and maintaining cooling systems mainly in Grocery stores in Austria and Germany. In the time period from 2015 until 2019 I spent more than a year working for this company. During this work I developed better german skills, I learned how to build cooling systems, both the electrical and the piping part.

Grabarics Építőipari Kft. (Grabarics Construction Company) This was my first job where I was actually working as a civil engineer. We were working on a apartment building, containing 82 apartments. It was a great opportunity to learn how project management is working, what roles there are, how many people we need. How to handle subcontractors, how to follow government regulations.

EP Konstruktív Kft. Shortly after I graduated from University. I have got a job at this company. My role was a mixture Construction site manager and project manager. This job was really exciting with various tasks. We were estimating the cost of projects. We were looking for subcontractors, dealing with them. And I was also on construction sites. Controlling the work. Making sure that everything is going according to the plans. I was ordering building material and I followed the actual costs of projects. Working here was a huge challenge and great experience.

Kész Zrt. During that one year I spent at Kész Zrt. I had the chance to get to know one of the biggest construction companies in Hungary. The company works in a wide range of construction. From structural design to mechanical execution. Their main profile is designing and building steel structures and building Industrial and office buildings. My task was cost estimation. I worked on a car factory, on a semiconductor factory (fan fact: by coincidence, later I worked on the construction of the very same project, with a different company) market hall, and many other projects where I was just helping my colleagues.

Kerek és Pintér kft. I always thought that structural engineers are the kings of civil engineering. Structural engineers who are designing the structures of the form, according to the given architect plan. Maybe it's true but nowadays I see a bit differently. However this motivated me to look for designing jobs and eventually I did find one at a small design company. We were designing mainly reinforced concrete structures. And I was drawing steel bar plans and executing basic counts. Once again I learned a huge amount of new things and got a lot of new experience. Unfortunately sitting in the office all day. Was a little bit boring for me. I had to look for new adventures.

Harcon Trion Kft. My biggest opportunity was waiting for me at this company. They were looking for someone who speaks english and german. The project itself was about floor covering, drywall building and painting. At first sight It looked boring. I was only interested because of the international environment, but I was wrong. It became a really complex project where I had to deal with several different tasks.

We started painting in September 2020. During that period and before I was working on quantity calculations.

We were working for two months on the project when we started to build the drywall walls. My job was to control the work, to keep track of everything related. Material delivery, storage, workforce, schedule. I also made detailed drawings about the walls and steel structures for gates and doors. I was also representing our company, and our contractor in the meetings with the client. Basically I was working for two companies at the same time. Soon I wasn’t only responsible for paint, dry walls and floor, but my job became to organize all the cleanroom walls and ceiling. I also worked as a BIM manager. In the busiest period we had daily meetings about BIM and I had to discuss with the design team the wishes of the client.

Around the end of november the construction site became busier every day. 3 mechanical companies, and an electrical company started their work on cooling, heating, air supply, smoke exhaust, hydrogen and nitrogen pipelines. With so many contractors it was inevitable to have conflicts about working space, clashing issues and cleaning.

We faced huge difficulties on material supply because of international shortage on raw material and COVID cases by suppliers. These issues were ongoing throughout the whole project. It forced us to reorganise our workforce weekly, sometimes daily, according to the materials we had.

This project was a huge challenge for me and because of that I gained a lot of experience on this project and confidence. I developed better skills in dealing with workers, dealing with subcontractors. I learned a lot about flooring, dry wall building. I learned what cleanroom means. And I used Revit and Navisworks on a daily basis.
